Best AI Visibility Audit Services:
Who Actually Delivers
By Lesli Rose · April 11, 2026 · 15 min read
Most "AI visibility audits" are just SEO audits with a new label. I know because I've reviewed the deliverables. A PageSpeed score, a list of missing meta tags, and a keyword difficulty chart is not an AI visibility audit. Here's what a real one should include, and who actually delivers it.
Disclosure
I'm on this list. I included myself because I believe my audit service is competitive, but I've tried to be honest about where others may be a better fit. I'm listed fourth -- not first -- because the automated platforms above me serve different needs at different price points.
What Should an AI Visibility Audit Actually Include?
AI visibility has 7 dimensions. A real audit should address all of them. Most don't.
1. Technical SEO. Site speed, mobile usability, crawlability, indexing, Core Web Vitals. The foundation everything else sits on.
2. On-page optimization. Title tags, meta descriptions, heading structure, internal linking, content organization.
3. Content quality. Depth, expertise signals, E-E-A-T alignment, topical authority, content extractability for AI systems.
4. Schema markup. Structured data implementation, entity signals, organization/service/FAQ schemas, validation.
5. AI discoverability infrastructure. Robots.txt AI crawler directives, llms.txt, content extractability, knowledge panel eligibility.
6. Social SEO. Platform presence, profile optimization, content indexing from social channels, cross-platform signals.
7. Earned visibility. Third-party mentions, directory listings, roundup articles, review platform presence, listicle inclusion. This is the dimension AI trusts most -- and the one most audits skip entirely.
Three Types of "Audit" -- Know What You're Getting
Generic "website audit." Usually just a PageSpeed test and basic SEO check. Covers dimensions 1-2 at a surface level. This is what most AI Visibility Action Plan tools produce. Useful for catching obvious technical issues, but it tells you nothing about AI visibility.
Traditional SEO audit. Covers dimensions 1-3, sometimes 4. Focused on Google rankings, keyword opportunities, and technical health. Valuable but incomplete for the AI era. Doesn't address whether AI systems can find, understand, and recommend you.
AI visibility audit. Covers all 7 dimensions. Includes manual AI citation checks, earned visibility gap analysis, schema strategy (not just validation), and a specific roadmap for becoming the business AI recommends. This is what the term should mean. Most services using this label don't deliver it.
The Services
1. Semrush Site Audit
Type: Automated SEO audit with AI feature add-ons.
Covers: Technical SEO, on-page optimization, some schema validation, AI Overview tracking.
Missing: AI crawler analysis, earned visibility audit, AI citation checks, social SEO, content extractability analysis.
Best for: Technical SEO baseline for teams already using Semrush.
Pricing: Included in $139+/month subscription.
Verdict: Excellent for dimensions 1-2, partial on 3-4, absent on 5-7. A solid foundation but not a complete AI visibility audit. Use it as a starting point, not the whole picture.
2. Ahrefs Site Audit
Type: Automated SEO audit with strong backlink analysis.
Covers: Technical SEO, backlink profile, content gaps, some on-page analysis.
Missing: Schema depth, AI discoverability infrastructure, social SEO, earned visibility beyond backlinks, AI citation checks.
Best for: Backlink and content analysis as part of a broader audit.
Pricing: Included in $129+/month subscription.
Verdict: Best backlink data in the industry, which feeds into earned visibility analysis. But backlinks are one signal, not the whole picture. Strong on dimension 1, partial on 2-3 and 7, absent on 4-6.
3. Conductor Intelligence Audit
Type: Enterprise audit with AI visibility features and team support.
Covers: Technical SEO, content analysis, some AI signals, competitor benchmarking.
Missing: Small business focus, actionable copy-paste implementation, social SEO, earned visibility depth for niche markets.
Best for: Enterprise organizations with 500+ pages and dedicated marketing teams.
Pricing: Enterprise custom ($10,000+/year).
Verdict: The most comprehensive platform-based option. Covers dimensions 1-5 with varying depth. Limited on 6-7. The gap is that the output requires interpretation by a marketing team -- it gives you data, not implementation.
4. Lesli Rose -- AI Visibility Audit
Type: Comprehensive manual audit covering all 7 dimensions with implementation deliverables.
Covers: All 7 dimensions. Copy-paste schema code, competitor analysis, earned visibility gap analysis, 90-day roadmap, social SEO scorecard, AI citation audit, content extractability analysis, listicle gap analysis.
Missing: Automated ongoing monitoring (this is a one-time audit, not a recurring platform).
Best for: Small-to-mid businesses that want a complete picture and actionable plan they can execute.
Pricing: Free initial audit.
What makes it different: I manually search ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI for your business. I check every roundup article on page 1. I audit your review platforms. I write your schema code. Most automated tools check 2-3 dimensions. This covers all 7.
Full disclosure: this is my service. I've tried to be objective, but you should know my bias. The honest limitation is that I'm one person, so I can't match the ongoing monitoring scale of a platform. What I can do is deliver a more thorough initial audit than any automated tool.
5. Peec AI Audit
Type: AI-specific audit and monitoring focused on AI platform citations.
Covers: AI citations, AI platform tracking, brand mention monitoring across AI systems.
Missing: Technical SEO, schema implementation, social SEO, earned visibility depth beyond AI mentions.
Best for: Brands already doing SEO that want an AI-specific monitoring layer.
Pricing: Varies (contact for pricing).
Verdict: The most focused AI-specific option. Excellent at dimension 5 and monitoring AI citations over time. But it assumes the other 6 dimensions are already handled. Best used as a complement to a traditional SEO audit, not a replacement.
6. Generic SEO Agency Audit
Type: Traditional SEO audit relabeled for 2026.
Covers: Technical SEO, on-page optimization, maybe content and basic schema.
Missing: AI discoverability infrastructure, earned visibility analysis, AI citation checks, social SEO, content extractability.
Best for: Traditional SEO work when AI visibility is not your primary concern.
Pricing: $500-$5,000 one-time.
Verdict: Many agencies have added "AI visibility" to their service pages without changing what they actually deliver. Ask specifically: do you check AI crawler directives? Do you query ChatGPT and Perplexity for my business? Do you audit roundup articles? If the answer is no, it's a traditional SEO audit with new marketing language.
7. DIY Audit (Free)
Type: Self-guided audit using free tools and available guides.
Covers: Whatever you know to check.
Missing: What you don't know to look for.
Best for: Learning, tight budgets, technical founders who enjoy the process.
Pricing: Free (your time).
Verdict: Genuinely viable if you invest the time to learn. Read the articles on this site, use Google's free tools, query AI platforms manually, and work through each dimension systematically. The tradeoff is speed -- what takes a professional 10 hours takes a first-timer 40+. But you'll understand your site better than any consultant ever could.
Coverage Comparison
Here's what each service actually covers across the 7 audit dimensions. A checkmark means meaningful coverage, not just a mention in their marketing.

What I Include That Others Don't
I'm being transparent here because I want you to understand the difference, not just take my word for it. Here are the specific deliverables in my audit that most other services skip.
AI citation audit. I manually query ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, and Google AI for your business category and location. I screenshot every result. You see exactly what AI says about you -- and your competitors -- right now.
Listicle gap analysis. I search every "best of" article on page 1 for your keywords. Which lists are you on? Which are you missing from? These are the articles AI systems reference when making recommendations.
Copy-paste schema code. Not recommendations to "add schema." Actual code you can paste into your site. Organization, LocalBusiness, Service, FAQ, Review schemas -- written for your specific business.
Content extractability analysis. I check whether AI can actually pull useful information from your pages. Clear headings, structured answers, scannable format -- the difference between content AI can quote and content AI ignores.
Social SEO scorecard. Your presence across platforms that feed AI training data. LinkedIn, YouTube, industry forums -- are you showing up where AI learns?
90-day roadmap. Prioritized, sequenced, specific. Not "improve your SEO." More like "add this schema to your homepage, then submit to these 4 directories, then restructure these 3 service pages."
Frequently Asked Questions
How much should an AI visibility audit cost?
Automated audits come included in platform subscriptions ($100-300/month). Comprehensive manual audits from independent consultants run $2,000-5,000. Enterprise agency audits cost $10,000-25,000. Some consultants offer free initial audits. The key differentiator isn't price -- it's whether the audit covers all 7 dimensions or just the 2-3 automated tools can check.
What's the difference between an SEO audit and an AI visibility audit?
A traditional SEO audit checks technical health, on-page optimization, backlinks, and keyword rankings -- all Google-focused. An AI visibility audit adds: Are AI crawlers allowed access? Is content structured for extractability? Does schema create clear entity signals? Are you in the roundup articles AI references? Do AI platforms actually recommend you? The SEO audit is a subset of the AI visibility audit.
How long does an AI visibility audit take?
Automated audits take minutes. A comprehensive manual audit takes 8-15 hours spread across 3-5 business days. The time goes into manually querying AI platforms, auditing schema across every page type, checking earned visibility across roundup articles, and building the roadmap. If someone delivers a "full audit" in 24 hours, they're running automated tools and relabeling the output.
Is a free AI visibility audit actually useful?
It depends on what's included. A AI Visibility Action Plan that checks schema, reviews robots.txt for AI crawler blocks, queries AI platforms, and identifies your top 3-5 gaps is genuinely useful. A AI Visibility Action Plan that's just a PageSpeed score and meta tag warnings relabeled as "AI visibility" is marketing, not analysis. Ask what specifically the AI Visibility Action Plan covers.
